The Deputy Chairman of the Municipal People's Committee Nguyen Van Thanh received the South African Embassy in Vietnam 

On November 15
th, Deputy Chairman of the Municipal People's Committee Nguyen Van Thanh received the working delegation from the Embassy of South Africa headed by madamKgomotso Ruth Magau, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Africa in Vietnam to exchange courtesies with leaders of the city as well as to discuss opportunities for future cooperationand coordination for a seminar ofpromotion ontrade, tourism and investment between the Republic of South Africa and Hai Phong. It was also attended by leaders of concerned departments and agencies. 

Madam Kgomotso Ruth Magau thanked the city leaders for sparing time for the delegation and also delivered a brief introductionabout South Africa. She stressed that Vietnam and South Africa have a special relationship, the two countries have been cherishing the diplomatic relation since 1993.

Madam Kgomotso Ruth Magau shared that the courtesy visit to Hai Phong would also target organizing a seminar to promote trade, tourism and investment. Potentials and advantages of South Africa would also be presented to enterprises in Hai Phong at the seminar for cooperation promotion. After the seminar, the delegation will have a meeting with the Vietnam Maritime University where 10 students from South Africa are currently studying. 

Madam Kgomotso Ruth Magau also announced that the delegation of South African Embassy visited and worked with Pha Rung Shipbuilding Company to look forcooperationopportunities. MadamKgomotso Ruth Magau expressed desires to study and exchange experiences in shipbuilding and tourism with Hai Phong. 

The Deputy Chairman gladly welcomed Madam Kgomotso Ruth Magau to visit and work in Hai Phong. He believes that the promotion on trade, tourism and investment would be an opportunity for Haiphong to root relations with localities in South Africa in the future. 

The DeputyChairman noted that Hai Phong is the cradle of Vietnam's shipbuilding industry as well as the maritime sector of Vietnam, the seminar in Hai Phong conducted by the South African Embassy was a proper recognition of missions and positions of Hai Phong in development of international trade of the North Vietnam. Hai Phong has national and regional universities such as Hai Phong University, Vietnam Maritime University, Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacywhich South Africa has also had a project to enhance human resource for it. The Deputy Chairman expected that South Africa and Vietnam would have a sustainable relationship for which exchanges in trade and services in between would play an important role for it.
