Haiphong builds intensive specialized IPs with incentives to attract Japanese investors

Hai Phong City recently held a workshop on Building intensive specialized industrial Parks (IPs) for Japanese investors, chaired by City People’s Committee Standing Vice Chairman Dan Duc Hiep. Attending the workshop were leaders from relevant ministries, central and local agencies, and Japanese organizations.

The participants reviewed the investment activities, strengths, weaknesses of Haiphong’s industrial parks, and practical training activities in the IPs. Representatives from ministries and central agencies referred to preferential policies and mechanisms dedicated to Japanese investors when investing in the IPs, development orientation of supporting industries in Haiphong city etc. Participants from local departments and agencies proposed Dinh Vu-Cat Hai Economic Zone to develop an intensive specialized IP for Japanese investors as it has many potential advantages; recommended list of investment sectors. Japanese guests said that the intensive specialized IP model would be successful if it adopted specific policies and a relevant mechanism such as workshop area of ​​300-500m2, reducing service costs, more open and free conditions etc.

In conclusion, the City People’s Committee Vice Chairman Dan Duc Hiep reaffirmed the intensive specialized industrial parks in Hai Phong would be built under the direction of the Central Government, on the basis of Dong Nai’s model. The city selected existing IPs to build intensive specialized IPs with relevant mechanisms and incentives to attract Japanese businesses. The Vice President asked Department of Planning and Investment to coordinate with Department of Foreign Affairs, Department of Information and Communications to develop a website in Japanese language with all necessary information to Japanese investors; to establish a team in charge of Japanese issues providing supports as needed by the investors.
